2008 Bowery Gallery Invitational Exhibitions

The Bowery Gallery has two slots, June 17-July 5, 2008 (first slot) and July 8-26, 2008 (second slot), for exhibiting the work of artists outside the New York City area. This will be the twenty-fourth year of such invitational exhibitions. Two or three artists may share an exhibition, in which case they must apply together.

Seven years ago, the gallery inaugurated a new space on West 25th Street in New York's Chelsea district. The exhibition space measures about 900 square feet, which can either be configured as a single rectangle or divided by a partition. There is an adjoining bathroom and elevator. Gallery hours are 11am to 6pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

The cost to the artist is $3,800.00. This covers:

• Gallery staffing
Gallery Guide listing, Chelsea Art Map listings and Art in America New York Gallery Pages
• Space for poster in vitrine on street level outside building
• Gallery mailing list of over 1,000 preaddressed mailing labels
• All ongoing gallery expenses: electricity, rent, and telephone (there will be a small charge per outgoing calls)

Artists will be responsible for:

• Announcement design, printing expense and mailing
• Postage expense
• Installation and removal of exhibition
• Reception refreshments

State law requires artists to collect and remit to the NY State Tax Department 8.375% sales tax on all in-state sales delivered to Connecticut and New Jersey.

The application deadline is March 1st, 2008. If you are interested, please send 20 slides accurately representing the work to be exhibited or digital images on a CD, a resume and a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage for return of materials.
