Wilderness Work
Jane Culp

The Bowery Gallery is pleased to announce "Wilderness Work" an exhibition of oils, watercolors and drawings by Jane Culp. These landscape paintings and drawings portray the rugged California wild lands and deserts where Jane lives and works a large part of each year.

"Jane Culp's view of the landscape is vast…in space, color, scale, light and the history of art. Her viewpoint glimpses the landscape of Cezanne at a distance, the world of early Moderns such as Arthur Dove and Marsden Hartley at mid-view, and the startling physical immediacy that the mountains, rocks, and trees of her beloved high country desert amplify at close range."

—David Maxim, San Francisco painter and writer on art from the introduction to the "Wilderness Work" catalog of Jane Culp.

The show runs from July 13-31, with a reception Thursday July 15, 5-8pm. The Bowery Gallery is located at 530 West 25th Street in NYC with hours Tuesday thru Saturday 11am-6pm, phone 646-230-6655, www.bowerygallery.org
